Schloneger, Robert I.
April 17, 1941 - March 25, 2024
Robert I. Schloneger, 82, of Goshen died on Monday, March 25, 2024 surrounded by family members.
Bob was born on April 17, 1941 in Louisville, Ohio to Irvin and Irene (Falb) Schloneger.
On June 8, 1963 he married Enid Miller in Smithville, Ohio.
She survives along with three sons, Craig (Ann) Schloneger of Lititz, Pennsylvania, Kevin (Lisa) Schloneger of Indianapolis, and Mark (Sarah) Schloneger of Goshen; 10 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Other survivors include sisters, Sandra (Jim) Brenneman of Newburgh, Indiana, and Faye (Marty) Brenneman of Orrville, Ohio; a brother, Keith (Bev) Schloneger of Dundee, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, Russ Hochstetler of Goshen.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tricia Schloneger; a sister, Catherine Hochstetler; and a brother, David Schloneger.
Bob was a retired Mennonite pastor, teacher, and mentor and had many hobbies and interests. Bob adored his wife and cherished time with his family. He was always happy to help others with his handyman skills.
He was a master wood turner and enjoyed turning with friends Sherm Kauffman and Marion Yoder. He also enjoyed working on other woodworking projects and playing and watching sports.
With Enid, Bob served two years with Mennonite Voluntary Service in Puerto Rico, and he volunteered with Meals on Wheels in his retirement. He was an active member of Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 29, from 4 to 7pm at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
A 10 am memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 30, at Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship, Goshen.

Schrock, Delila J.
February 12, 2003 - March 8, 2024
Delila J. Schrock, age 21 years and 25 days of the Burke’s Garden area of Tazewell, VA passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 in Clark County, WI. Born February 12, 2003, she was a daughter of Joseph A. Schrock and Elizabeth D. Hostetler Schrock. Delila was of the Christian faith and a member of Old Order Amish of Burke’s Garden. Delila was a sweet soul who loved to sing and reach out to others. She had many friends, was loved by all and she held a special place in many hearts. She passed away with her brother, Orla J. Schrock; sister-in-law, Ellen A. Byler Schrock and niece, Judi Rose Schrock and three friends. She is also preceded in death by grandmothers, Susan Hostetler and Martha Schrock; grandfather, David Hostetler and aunt, Mary Petersheim.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Joseph A. Schrock and Elizabeth Hostetler Schrock; sisters, Alice Byler and husband Rudy of Fredonia, PA, Saloma Byler and husband Ernest, Martha Schrock, Susan Schrock and Rosemary Schrock all of Burke’s Garden, VA; brother, David Schrock of the home; nephew, Micah Orlen Schrock; niece, Kaylene of Fredonia, PA; grandparents, Andrew and Iva (step grandmother) Schrock. Thirteen aunts, 13 uncles, numerous cousins and many friends also survive.
Nathaniel Schmucker, Reuben Troyer, Harvey Mast and Earl Chupp will serve as pallbearers.
Interment will follow funeral services at Burke’s Garden Amish Cemetery in Burke’s Garden, VA.
Schrock, Ellen A. Byler
December 14, 2000 - March 8, 2024
Ellen A. Byler Schrock, age 23 years, 2 months and 23 days, of the Burke’s Garden area of Tazewell, VA passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 in Clark County, WI. Born December 14, 2000, she was a daughter of Allen D. Byler and the late Linda J. Beachy Byler. Ellen and her husband Orla lived in matrimony two years, 10 months and 17 days. Ellen was of the Christian faith and she was a member of Old Order Amish Church of Burke’s Garden. She enjoyed singing and reading Bible stories to her children. She loved her husband Orla dearly and she treasured being a mom to her children. Ellen will be greatly missed by family and friends as she leaves them with many precious memories. She passed away with her husband Orla J. Schrock, daughter Judi Rose Schrock, mother Linda J. Byler, sister Lydia A. Byler and sister-in-law, Delila J. Schrock. She is also preceded in death by two uncles, Ernest and Mervin.

Schrock, Iola Ruth
February 10, 1938 - January 24, 2024
Iola Ruth Schrock, 95, of Middlebury, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus at 12:35 pm, on Wednesday, January 24, [2024] at Goshen Hospital, from complications of heart disease. She faithfully lived the Christian life from an early teenager to the present life. Her inspiration touched many lives.
She was born on February 10, 1928, in Topeka, to Harry and Hazel Marie (Mishler) Schrock. Surviving are three sisters, Ellen Mishler of Shipshewana, Waneta Miller of Middlebury, Betti Kauffman of Ephrata, PA; two sisters-in-law, Eloise Schrock of Goshen, Eleanor Schrock of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Harry Schrock, Francis Schrock, Marion Schrock, Merle Leon Schrock; sister, Beulah Schrock; lifelong friend, Lois Brenneman.
Iola had done housework for most of her life and worked as a dietitian while living in Cincinnati, Ohio and helped with physical therapy while living in Traverse City, Michigan. She had taught Bible school for many years both in Minnesota and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Iola enjoyed singing, baking, traveling, and writing letters to her family and friends. She was a member of the Living Hope Christian Fellowship.
Visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 28 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:30 am funeral service on Monday, January 29 at Living Hope Christian Fellowship, 501 North Indiana Avenue, Goshen. Services will be conducted by the Living Hope Pastoral Team. Family and friends will gather at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 29 for a graveside service at Miller 8 Square Cemetery, 14153 CR 126, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to Living Hope Christian Fellowship.
Schrock, Judi Rose
September 2, 2023 - March 8, 2024
Judi Rose Schrock, age six months and six days, infant daughter of the late Orla J. Schrock and Ellen A. Byler Schrock, passed away Friday, March 8, 2023 in Clark County, WI. Judi Rose was born September 2, 2023. She attended Old Order Amish Church of Burke’s Garden. She was a sweet little angel and loved by everyone. Judi Rose adored her Daddy and Mom and she loved attention from her brother Micah. She passed away with her father, Orla J. Schrock, mother, Ellen A. Byler Schrock and grandmother, Linda J. Beachy Byler; aunts, Lydia A. Byler and Delila J. Schrock.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Micah Orlen Schrock; grandparents, Joseph Schrock, Elizabeth Hostetler Schrock, and Allen D. Byler. Many friends and family also survive.

Schrock, Melvin James "Jim"
May 3, 1966 - February 12, 2024
Melvin James "Jim" Schrock, 57, of Goshen, died at 3:55 pm on Monday, February 12, [2024] at his residence, following a courageous four-year battle with cancer. He was born on May 3, 1966, in Goshen, to Melvin J. and Ruby (Slabach) Schrock. On May 1, 1993, he married Arlene Hostetler, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are daughter, Rachel (Johnathon) Zarse of Goshen; son, Luke Schrock of Poulsbo, WA; four grandchildren, Mason, Tucker, Memphis, and Dawson Zarse; two sisters, Pam (Ward) Bingaman, Sandra Mullen both of Goshen; brother, Donald (Marlene) Schrock of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim was a member of First Mennonite Church in Middlebury and was retired from Mr. Appliance as an appliance technician. He was a Gulf War I veteran serving in the Marines during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield as well as the Kuwait Liberation Movement. Jim was a motorcycle enthusiast and an avid outdoorsman.
Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 15 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, February 16 at First Mennonite Church, 203 E. Lawrence Street, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Phil Yoder and Pastor Tim Eash. A private burial will be in Miller 8 Square Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
Schrock, Orla J.
March 18, 1999 - March 8, 2024
Orla J. Schrock, age 24 years, 11 months and 19 days, of the Burke’s Garden area of Tazewell, VA passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 in Clark County, WI. Born March 18, 1999, he was a son of Joseph Schrock and Elizabeth D. Hostetler Schrock. Orla and his wife Ellen lived in matrimony two years, 10 months and 17 days. Orla was of the Christian faith and he was a member of Old Order Amish of Burke’s Garden. He was a member of the Burke’s Garden Volunteer Fire Department and he enjoyed training horses. He was a kind, caring man who found joy in reaching out to others. Most of all, he loved being “Dad” to his two precious children. Orla will be missed by many people—friends, aunts, uncles, a brother, sisters and loving parents. He passed away with his wife Ellen, precious daughter Judi Rose and sister Delila. He is also preceded in death by grandmothers Susan Hostetler and Martha Schrock; grandfather, David Hostetler and aunt, Mary Petersheim.

Schrock, Ruth Snyder
July 14, 1929 - February 23, 2024
Ruth Schrock, 94, of Walnut Creek, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home following a period of declining health.
She was born in Walnut Creek Twp. on July 14, 1929 to the late Henry and Celesta (Weaver) Snyder and married Crist N. Schrock on July 12, 1952. He died on May 14, 2014.
She had worked as a part time custodian for Hiland High School. She was a member of the former Gray Ridge Community Fellowship Church at Millersburg and was currently attending Walnut Creek Mennonite Church.
Ruth is survived by her three sons, Glenn (Debby) Schrock of Wooster, James Schrock and Ron (Peggy) Schrock both of Sugarcreek; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Emma Miller of Colorado; and 3 cousins, Esther Frink of Winesburg, Ann Mae Wilson of West Lafayette and Sam Snyder of Gahanna.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, David Snyder and 3 sisters, Vesta Snyder Helwig, Ruby Hofstetter, and Esta Snyder.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11 AM at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church with Pastor Charlie Grimes and Patrick Miller officiating. Private family burial will be in Gray Ridge Church Cemetery in Millersburg prior to services. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-6 PM at the Church. Schumm, Laura Bauman
April 21, 1932 - February 16, 2024
Laura Bauman Schumm passed away peacefully just after noon on February 16, 2024, in her home surrounded by many family members.
Laura was the nurse everyone hopes to have; comforting, pragmatic, wise and skillful. She had an innate talent for the ministry of hospitality and was committed to radical inclusion long before it became a buzzword. She was joyfully intrepid, usually up for just about anything anyone proposed. Her grandchildren fondly remember middle of the night tea parties with Grandma Laura, bookended by hours of talking and looking at pictures. The older Laura got the more radiant she seemed to become, as though the light was just busting out. She was our load-bearing wall, perfectly designed and solid. When she passed on, she left a sturdy beam of light, strong enough to continue supporting and guiding us.
Laura was born to Owen and Lydiann Bauman on April 21, 1932 on their farm in St. Jacob’s, Ontario, the second of five children. In 1957 she married Dale Schumm with whom she had two children. In 1966 while the children were still little the family moved to India where they worked together for Mennonite Board of Missions and Mennonite Central Committee.
When they moved to Elkhart, Indiana in 1972 Laura worked in a nursing home and later as a hospice nurse while hospice was still a relatively new concept. She was instrumental in the beginning of Elkhart Community Hospice and worked with them until retirement and again afterwards.
In addition to India, Laura and Dale visited many parts of the world. She had a special interest in Palestine and Israel having been involved in the founding of the living history site Nazareth Village.

Selman, Carol Jeanette Whirledge
September 30, 1934 - January 2, 2024
Carol Jeanette Selman, 89, of Syracuse died Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at her son's home surrounded by her family.
She was born September 30, 1934 in Kosciusko County to Eli and Amelia (Graybill) Whirledge.
On June 30, 1957 she married Paul Selman at Eighth Street Mennonite Church in Goshen.
She was survived by a daughter, Karen Selman of Casa Grande, Arizona: two sons, Ted (Sheila) Selman of Goshen and David (JoAnn) Selman of Syracuse; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Angel Grace Zuck; two sisters, Ruthe Kelly and Sarah "Betty" Bechtel, and three brothers, William, Edward and Phillip Whirledge.
Carol graduated from Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing in 1955 and from Bluffton College in 1957 with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She worked at Elkhart General Hospital for 29 years. She was a member of Hively Avenue Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. memorial service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Pastor Conrad Mast will officiate.
A private burial will take place at Clinton Brick Cemetery, Goshen.

Sensenig, Janet I. Ogburn
May 26, 1949 - March 14, 2024
Janet I. (Ogburn) Sensenig, 74, passed Thursday, March 14, 2024, peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Daniel A. Sensenig, her husband of 53 years.
Janet was born May 26, 1949, in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Forrest M. and Anna Ruth (Geigley) Ogburn.
Janet was a member of Blue Ridge Mennonite Church in Carlisle, and enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels. People knew Janet for her cheerful disposition and smile, and she loved to be involved in people’s lives, especially her family.
In addition to her husband, Daniel, Janet is survived by two sons, Scott E. Sensenig and his wife Wanda, of Lagrange, IN, and Greg C. Sensenig and his wife Sheryl of New Oxford, two daughters, Pamela D. Garman and her husband Lloyd Jr, of Gettysburg, and Kimberly G. Stolzfus and her husband Jay of Delta, CO, eighteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Grace Miller and her husband James of New Oxford, and Anna Ruth Brougher and her husband Robert of Gettysburg, one brother, Daniel Ogburn and his wife Laura of Gettysburg, and a brother-in-law Lee Horst of Gettysburg. She was predeceased by one sister, Elsie Horst and three grandsons.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 10 AM, at Ebenezer Bible School, 137 Rampike Hill Rd, Bendersville, with Brothers, Luke Bennetch, Virgil Heisey, and Darvin Halteman officiating. Burial will be in Mummasburg Church Cemetery, Gettysburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Zack Sensenig, Denver Sensenig, Leon Groff, Weston Nolt, Dustin Garman and Tyler Garman. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 1-3 PM and 5-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Mennonite Church, 145 Montsera Rd, Carlisle, PA 17015. Shank, Martha Bauman Yoder
August 20, 1934 - February 26, 2024
Martha B. (Yoder) Shank, 89, a resident of Dayton, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at Mountain View Nursing Home in Aroda, Va.
Martha was born Aug. 20, 1934, in Flordale, Ontario and was a daughter of the late Isaiah G. Bauman and Hettie (Martin, Bauman) Weaver. After losing her father at age four, her family moved from Canada to Maryland. At the age of 18, she contracted polio. This, however did not stop her from pursuing a nursing degree. She earned her associate degree and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. She was a member of Bethany Mennonite Church.
She also volunteered for Gospel Sunrise Tape and Tract Ministry for about 25 years. She loved writing and was a scribe for the Budget for nearly 25 years as well.
On March 26, 1966, she married Melvin C. Yoder, who preceded her in death Nov. 7, 1999. On June 14, 2001, she married Douglas H. Shank, who survives.
Also surviving are her children, M. Mark Yoder (wife, Freda) of Dayton and Matthew M. Yoder (wife, Doris) of Hutchinson, Kan.; grandchildren, Samantha, Saralynn; Preston (wife, Abi), Trevor (wife, Tessa), Janetta, Victoria, and Gabriel Yoder. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Aspen, Caleb and Chase Yoder.
In addition to her first husband and parents, Martha was preceded in death by her siblings, Doris Strite, Mahlon Bauman, Mary Myers and Leonard Bauman.
The ministry of Bethany Mennonite Church will conduct a funeral service Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Bank Mennonite Church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Pike Mennonite Church Monday, March 4, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Dorvin D. Shaum, 58, Nappanee, died surrounded by his family 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born June 2, 1965, to Dana Daniel & Wilma W. (Brubacher) Shaum. On June 7, 1986, he married Karen (Martin) Shaum. They enjoyed 37 & 1/2 years together.
Surviving are his wife, Karen, Nappanee, 5 children, Nathan Shaum, Nappanee, Leandra (Ezra) Heatwole, Sterling, Michigan, Janelle (Andrew) Heatwole, Prescott, Michigan, Larisa (Cameron) Martin, Goshen, & Kenton Shaum, Nappanee, and 16 grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Leland (Sharon) Shaum, Goshen, David (Linda) Shaum, Roann, Loren (Mary Beth) Shaum, Nappanee, Marlin (Jane) Shaum, Akron, & Daniel (Krystel) Shaum, Wakarusa and sisters, Elizabeth Shaum, Goshen, & Miriam (Marlen) Martin, Goshen.
Preceding him in death are his parents.
Dorvin was a member of the Wisler Mennonite Church. He enjoyed nature and spending time in the outdoors. Dorvin was a faithful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and will be greatly missed by his wife and family.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024, and 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2024, all at Harrison Christian School, 64784 CR 11, Goshen. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2024, at Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church. Home ministry will officiate. Burial will follow at the Church Cemetery. Shaum, Ruth E. Schlabach
April 1, 1928 - March 3, 2024
Ruth E. Shaum, 95, of Goshen, died late Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2024 at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born April 1, 1928 in Clinton Township to Ezra and Vivian (Johns) Schlabach.
She married Paul E. Shaum on April 17, 1965 in Goshen. He preceded her in death in 2013. She became a step-mother to his seven children, and step-grandmother to three grandchildren upon their marriage. They then had one son, Jerrol (Mary Ann Weber) Shaum of Goshen, who survives.
Also surviving are three step-daughters, Norma Chatfield of Roswell, Georgia, Carolyn (Richard) Coodens and Elizabeth (Randy) Noland of South Bend; two step-sons, Steven (Kelly) Shaum of Nappanee and Randall (Jean) Shaum of Two Rivers, Wisconsin; 13 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Dorvin (Ruth) Schlabach; and one sister, Arleta Kilmer.
She was preceded in death by two step-daughters; Phyllis (George) Keller and Marolyn Miller; a step-grandson, Adam Shaum; one sister, Eudean (Emil) Broni; and three brothers, Richard, Dale (Vivian), and Theoron Schlabach.
She was a founding member of the Benton Mennonite Church where she remained an active participant until shortly before her death. There, her servant heart was nurture and demonstrated by the numerous roles she took on, as well as in outreach to the community, her profession as an RN, and involvement on the board of LaCasa.
A caregiver her whole life, she will be missed by all who knew her, but we know that she is now in the loving care of the God and Savior she loved so well.
Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
A private burial will take place at Olive West Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at Benton Mennonite Church. Becky Helmuth will officiate.

Shirk, Damian J.
July 8, 2000 - February 25, 2024
Damian J. Shirk, 23, of Narvon, passed away on February 25, 2024 in his residence.
Born in Altoona, he was the son of John Aaron and Susie R. (Newswanger) Shirk.
He worked for various masonry businesses, with his last being Zooks Masonry. His favorite pastime was spending time with his son, Dylan. He will be remembered best for his energy and for his love of talking on the phone for hours upon hours at a time with his family.
Damian is survived by his parents, John Aaron and Susie R. (Newswanger) Shirk of East Earl, his five-year-old son, Dylan A. Shirk, Dylan's mother, Brittany R. Miller, brothers, Floyd N. Shirk of Ephrata, Steven A. husband of Amanda D. Shirk of Newmanstown and Michael A. Shirk of East Earl and sisters, Wanda J. wife of Dana W. Hoover of Narvon and Ruthie L. wife of Glenn W. Martin of Memphis, MO. He is also survived by 9 nieces and 6 nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents and one niece.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Churchtown Mennonite Church, 2327 Main Street, Narvon, PA 17557 with Randy Brubacher, Brent Martin, Douglas Zeiset and Phil Hollinger officiating. A Viewing will be held for one hour prior to the time of service on Friday and on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the church. Burial in the adjoining church cemetery.

Short, Charlene Faye Nafziger
September 21, 1941 - February 29, 2024
Charlene Faye (Nafziger) Short, 82, of Archbold, passed away peacefully in her home on February 29, 2024. Charlene was born on September 21, 1941 in Wauseon, Ohio, to Orval and Ada (Crossgrove) Nafziger. She married Merle Short on February 18, 1961, who preceded her in death on December 21, 2016.
Charlene attended nursing school in Toledo and worked as an LPN. After the birth of her first son, she became a full-time mother and farm wife. She was an active member of Zion Mennonite Church for most of her life, and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. After Merle’s retirement, Charlene volunteered at Care & Share with him, delivering items to the Salvation Army and Kitchen for the Poor in Toledo. She loved her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Charlene is survived by her sisters, Barbara Aeschliman and Sara Nafziger, two sons, Gary (Alice) of Bedford, Texas, and Tim (Missy) of Wadsworth, Ohio, her grandchildren, Marianne and Rose Short, Crystal (Morne) Coetzer, Rachel Andrews, and Shane Andrews, and great-grandchildren Raegan and Jordan Coetzer.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 11 AM at Zion Mennonite Church with Pastors Sue Short and John David Thacker officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 4-8 PM. Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be given to Mennonite Central Committee or Archbold Fish.
Showalter, Lavina Ruth Graber
January 27, 1938 - January 23, 2024
Lavina Ruth Showalter, age 85, of Dalton, died Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at The Inn at University Village in Massillon, where she has resided for the last two years.
Lavina was born on January 27, 1938, in Creston, to the late Harvey and Sylvia (Krabill) Graber and graduated from Norwayne High School in 1956. She married Glenn Warren Showalter on April 20, 1957, at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville. Glenn died on August 7, 2021.
She worked as an Agent and Office Manager for Clymer (now Hummel) Insurance Agency for many years, retiring in 2006.
Lavina was a member of Kidron Mennonite Church and the Wayne County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are two sons, Rod (Nancy) Showalter of Dalton and Roger Showalter of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Rhonda (Andy) Cossick of Wadsworth; four grandchildren, Lori Showalter, Rachel Cossick, Brian (Marjorie) Showalter and Kurt Cossick; brother, Harvey Graber; sister-in-law, Kathleen Graber of Wooster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Ilene Richard, Wilma Graber and Esther Shafer; brother, Howard Graber; and brothers-in-law, Robert Richard and Howard Shafer.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Carl Wiebe officiating. Burial will take place at the Paradise Brethren Cemetery in Smithville.

Dorothy M. Shrock, 96, of Goshen, formerly of Shipshewana, died at 6:45 am, on Saturday, January 6, [2024] at Greencroft Health Care Center, Goshen. She was born on February 26, 1927, in Wolford, ND, to Simon and Lida (Swartzentruber) Slaubaugh. On December 24, 1948, she married Silas Shrock, he died November 27, 2016.
Surviving are three daughters, Wanda (Gordon) Miller of Goshen, Judy (Mike) Mast of Shipshewana, Jan (Rick) Baumann of Grand Rapids, MI; two sons, James (Vicky) Shrock of Kendallville, Leon (Debbi) Shrock of Goshen; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Troy) Watt, Sabrina Shrock, Gavin (Amy) Miller, Stacey (Chris) Spolyar, Chris (Heidi) Mast, Evan (Kim) Mast, Katie Baumann, Spencer Baumann; 13 great-grandchildren; two step grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; nine brothers, Cletus, Dan, Joe, Albert, Tobias, Elmer, Vernon, Calvin, and Elvin Slaubaugh; three sisters, Edith, Mary, and Sylvia Graber.
Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of Emma Church. She enjoyed singing with her beautiful alto voice at church and in quartets. She loved sewing, making quilts, and hosting her family for meals.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 4:30 pm on Sunday, January 14 at Emma Church, 1900 South 600 West, Topeka. Family and friends will gather at 9:30 am on Monday, January 15 at the church to go in procession to Shore Cemetery for a 10:00 am graveside service. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 am on Monday January 15 at Emma Church. Services will be conducted by Pastor Gene Hartman. Memorials may be given to Menno-Clinic or Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
Slabaugh, Leroy
October 9, 1947 - March 17, 2024
Leroy Slabaugh, age 76, formerly of Ligonier, IN, died at 12:34 pm on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Goshen General Hospital. Leroy was born on October 9, 1947 in Nappanee to Levi T. and Lydia Ann (Miller) Slabaugh. He lived his entire life in the Northern Indiana area.
Leroy was a Horse enthusiast and worked with horses his entire life; he raised, raced and trained horses throughout his life. He attended Berea Christian Fellowship in Nappanee.
Leroy is survived by 6 siblings: Raymond (Linda) Slabaugh of Nappanee, Marvin (Betty) Slabaugh of Nappanee, Lonnie (Verba) Slabaugh of Nappanee, Jerry (Sara) Slabaugh of Bremen, IN, Martha Cesavice of South Bend, IN, and Freida (Glen) Burkholder of New Paris, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Delbert Slabaugh.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Berea Christian Fellowship (504 N. Main St. Nappanee, IN 46550). A funeral service will begin @ 9:30 am on Saturday morning, March 23, 2024 at Berea Christian Fellowship. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery, Nappanee.
Slabaugh, Rosalind S. Boughamer
November 24, 1938 - January 20, 2024
Rosalind S. Slabaugh, 85, Goshen, died 6 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at her home. She was born November 24, 1938, in East Chicago, to Victor & Leona (Kruswhicki) Boughamer. On November 21, 1959, she married Phil Slabaugh.
Surviving are her husband, Phil, Goshen, 2 children, Tami (Terry) Martin, Goshen, Mark (Kathy) Slabaugh, Goshen, 5 grandchildren Chris Martin, Dustin (Karen) Martin, Neil (Stephanie) Slabaugh, Kari Slabaugh, Justin Slabaugh, 6 great-grandchildren Parker, Hunter and Madison Martin, Noah, Tayah, and Mylah Slabaugh and a sister, Cynthia (Robert) Mundell, Chesterton.
Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother, Victor "Bud" Boughamer.
Rosalind was a member of Clinton Frame Church. She worked as a registered nurse at Middlebury Family Physicians and was owner/operator of Spring View Bed and Breakfast for 21 years. She will be remembered for her kindness and her heart for serving others. She was a wonderful grandma and great grandma.
The family would like to thank a special friend, Felicia Trejo, for her care and love for Rosalind.
A private gathering for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
